Project Overview
A hyperlocal marketplace for fresh goods from the porch down the street, opened ZIP by ZIP from a waitlist.
What We Built
The public site at theplut.com runs the launch as a waitlist that opens one ZIP at a time: a block goes live once 20 neighbors, 10 of them producers, have joined, and a live Growth Map shows how close each ZIP is. Around it sit the content pages, welcome emails, a blog edited from the operator console and an operator view of signups. In the product, sellers appear only as generalized sector bubbles; the exact porch and its instructions unlock in the order chat after the payment is held. The mobile app is built on Supabase and is with testers through TestFlight and Google Play internal testing ahead of public release.
The Challenge We Solved
A neighbor-to-neighbor market only works where there are enough neighbors. Opening everywhere at once would hand most people an empty map, and people selling eggs or sourdough from home will not list at all if doing so publishes their address.
