Project Overview
A car-rental marketplace for San Diego where timestamped photos at pickup and drop-off are what make handing a stranger your keys work.
What We Built
The specification went through our staged design run — design system, the mark, the first four screens, the rest of mobile, then web and admin — into a full HTML prototype, with the requirements that depend on third-party keys listed before development began. The product that followed: search by car, place and dates with instant-book, delivery and fuel-type filters, listings on a map, and a handover built around three photos — eight guided walk-around angles, an odometer reading taken on-device from the photo, and a record both parties sign that nobody can edit afterwards. Hosts pay an 11% platform commission, trips are insured, and payouts go out automatically once the dispute window closes. The web app is live, the Android build is on Google Play, and the iOS submission is waiting on review.
The Challenge We Solved
The client arrived with a complete product specification for a peer-to-peer car rental marketplace and wanted every feature as a screen before committing to a build. The product's hard problem is trust: nobody hands their car to a stranger unless what happens at the handover is on the record.
